Tones

There are 4 Tones in the Chinese language. There is a 5th tone but this is a short sound and is not classed as a tone.

Click on the example character to hear the prenunciation. To demonstrate the different tones a sign wave at 200Hz has been used and the pitch altered using the appropriate graph.
